Yesterday we left for the 160 miles of sailing back to Miami. We had a decent weather window for the crossing, so we decided to skip Bimini and grab it. This time of year it can be a bit iffy getting across the gulf stream. We are glad we decided to do this too, as the marinas in Bimini and our favorite mooring in Coconut Grove were full of boats waiting for a weather window to get out. We made it into Dinner Key Marina, and are planning to stay in Miami for a few weeks before pushing on to the Keys.
Our sail was pretty uneventful, except for the last bit coming into Government cut in Miami. We forgot how busy and crazy the waterways get and had to dodge the huge freighters and the tiny power boats zipping in between!
Talk to us!
