We discovered a new tradition here in the Chesapeake sailing world: spring Sock Burning! What is a sock burning you ask? Well, here is a great site to explain it, but basically the tradition dates back to the mid-1980s when the manager of a sailboat yard got tired of the winter blues. On the first day of spring one year he took off his socks, doused them with lighter fluid, and toasted to the first day of spring and a sockless sailing season while they burned.
Here we are doing the same with our friends the Robertsons, happy spring and goodbye winter!
